Problems we fix: Website down or slow
Website down or crawling? Back online, then faster, then watched.
A white screen, a timeout, a database error, or a homepage that takes ten seconds on a phone. We get the site back, find out why it happened, tune it so it loads in a second or two and monitor it around the clock so you never find out from a customer again.
What people type into Google
Is my website down, or is it just me?
These are the messages visitors see and what each one usually means. Any of them is worth a call, and site-down issues are handled first on every SpeedSolid plan.
“Error establishing a database connection”
WordPress cannot reach its database. Usually a crashed MySQL service on an overloaded shared server, a full disk, or changed database credentials. Fixable in minutes once someone with server access looks.
White screen or “There has been a critical error”
A plugin or theme update failed, PHP ran out of memory, or two plugins conflict. We turn on logging, find the plugin, roll it back and get the site up, then fix the real cause.
“This site can’t be reached” or DNS errors
The domain expired, nameservers were changed, or a DNS record is wrong. Nothing on the site itself is broken, but nobody can get to it. We check the registrar, the DNS and the host and put the records right.
Site loads but takes forever
Oversized images, no caching, too many plugins, a cheap shared server or a bloated theme. Visitors leave after three seconds and Google notices. Speed tuning is included on Core Pro and quoted on other plans.
Host suspended or server down
A missed invoice, resource overuse or a hacked account can take the whole site offline. We talk to the host, fix the reason and move the site to better hosting if that keeps happening.
Nobody noticed for two days
The site went down Friday night and the first clue was a customer email on Monday. That is a monitoring problem, and it is the easiest one to fix: every SpeedSolid plan includes 24/7/365 uptime monitoring.
What we do
Get it up, make it fast, keep it watched.
- Immediate diagnosis: DNS, server, database, PHP errors and plugin conflicts checked in that order
- Site restored from the last good backup where needed, with the cause fixed before it goes live
- Caching, image compression, database cleanup and plugin review for load times of a second or two
- Server upgrade or move to a private cloud server when shared hosting is the bottleneck
- Uptime monitoring 24/7/365 from multiple locations, alerts to our team the minute the site stops responding
- Public status page so you can check the site yourself at any time
- Monthly report with uptime and speed numbers on Core Plus and Core Pro
- Content changes and fix-ups at $150 per hour, larger projects quoted
Which plan fits
Core, $99.99 per month. Managed WordPress hosting, monthly updates, monthly backup, 24/7 uptime monitoring and support within one business day. Enough for a brochure site that just needs to stay up.
Core Plus, $149.99 per month. Adds security monitoring and malware cleanup, the monthly report and the accessibility and cookie tools. The right fit for most businesses.
Core Pro, from $299.99 per month. A private cloud server with speed tuning, daily server snapshots and priority support. For stores, high-traffic sites and anything that is slow on shared hosting.
Pay annually and save 10 percent. Migration to SpeedSolid is free.
How we compare
Why not just call the host, or a freelancer, or wait it out?
What each option actually does when the site is down at 9 pm on a Friday.
| What matters | SpeedSolid | A freelancer | Big-box host | Doing nothing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who answers when the site is down | One team that knows your site, phone and tickets 24/7/365, site-down handled first | Whoever built it, if they still reply | A chat queue that does not know your website | Nobody, until a customer tells you |
| Updates and security patches | Monthly updates, urgent fixes right away, malware monitoring and cleanup | When you remember to ask | Server only. Your WordPress, plugins and forms are on you | Never, until the site is hacked |
| Contact form delivery | Authenticated email, a test submission every day | Set up once, never checked again | Not their problem | Leads silently go to spam |
| Backups | Monthly full backup plus a copy before every update round, restore for $50 | Maybe | Often a paid add-on, restore on you | None |
| Accessibility and cookie tools | Included on Core Plus and Core Pro, with a statement page and consent banner | Extra project | Not offered | Exposed to demand letters |
| Price | From $99.99 a month, no contract | $75 to $150 an hour, unpredictable | $30 to $60 a month plus every fix at your cost | Free, until it is not |
Your first 30 days
What happens when you report a site-down.
Outages jump the queue. Here is the order of operations. Headquartered in California with teams and clients in Texas, New York, Florida and Hawaii, servers in multiple US regions, support in US business hours.
First hour: diagnose and restore
We check DNS, server, database and error logs, roll back the change that broke it or restore the last good backup, and confirm the site loads on desktop and phone.
First day: fix the cause
The failing plugin, the full disk, the memory limit or the expired domain gets fixed properly, and monitoring is turned on if it was not already.
First month: make it fast and keep it up
Caching, images and database tuned, hosting upgraded if the server was the problem, and your first monthly report shows uptime and load times.
What your site runs on
Enterprise infrastructure, with a human team in front of it.
SpeedSolid runs on enterprise cloud infrastructure that is audited and monitored around the clock, and we pass those commitments down to your website. What that infrastructure does not include is someone who knows your site and answers the phone. That part is us.
Audited data centers
Independently audited for SOC 1, SOC 2 and SOC 3, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS Level 1, with HIPAA-eligible infrastructure available on Core Pro private servers.
Published uptime commitments
Core Pro private cloud and managed WordPress servers carry a 99.99% commitment, shared hosting 99.9%, with a 24/7/365 network operations center behind all three.
East and West Coast servers
Northern California, Los Angeles and Ashburn, Virginia, with an Amsterdam option for European traffic. Your site sits closest to your customers.
Uptime commitments and certifications apply to the underlying infrastructure. SpeedSolid plan commitments are listed on the pricing page.
FAQ
Questions we get asked
How do I check if my website is down for everyone or just me?
Open the site on your phone with Wi-Fi off. If it still fails, it is down for everyone. Send us the address and we will tell you why within the hour on business days.
How fast will you respond?
Site-down issues are handled first, ahead of everything else in the queue. Core Pro clients have priority support. Our monitoring usually catches outages before anyone calls.
Why is my WordPress site so slow?
The usual causes, in order: a cheap shared server, no caching, uncompressed images, too many or badly written plugins, and a heavy theme. We measure each one and fix them in that order.
Can you move my site to a faster server without downtime?
Yes. We copy the site to the new server, test every page and form there, then switch the domain. Visitors do not see a gap. Migration is free on every plan.
Do you monitor sites that are not hosted with you?
Yes. Uptime monitoring and the public status page are available for any website. Full outage repair requires access to the hosting, which we can arrange with your current host.
What does it cost to fix a site that is down right now?
For SpeedSolid clients it is included. For everyone else emergency work is $150 per hour, quoted first, and most outages are resolved within one to two hours.
