Problems we fix: DNS and domain
Website or email not loading? We fix the DNS today and document it so nobody breaks it again.
DNS is the address book between your domain and your website and email. When a record is wrong, the site vanishes or the mail stops, usually after a migration, a redesign or a domain renewal nobody saw. We find the broken record, fix it and write down how it all connects.
How it shows up
The six DNS and domain problems behind a site that will not load.
If the site worked yesterday and nothing changed on the website itself, DNS or the domain is the first place to look.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
The browser cannot find the domain at all. The domain expired, the nameservers are wrong or the A record was deleted.
Domain expired or on hold
The registrar renewal failed on an old card and the domain went into redemption. There is a window to get it back, and it closes.
Site moved, email stopped
The new host’s nameservers took over and nobody copied the MX, SPF and DKIM records. The website is fine, every email bounces.
Works on some devices, not others
DNS is still propagating or an old record is cached. Normal for a day, a problem after that.
www works but the bare domain does not
Missing A record or redirect for one version. Half your visitors get an error.
Nobody knows where the domain is registered
GoDaddy, Network Solutions, a former developer, a dead email address. We find the registrar and get control back to you.
What we do
DNS fixed, email restored, everything documented.
- Registrar, nameservers and every DNS record checked and the broken one identified
- A, CNAME, MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records corrected so the site and email both work
- Expired or held domain recovered with the registrar where the window is still open
- Domain ownership moved to your own account, with your card and your email on it
- Propagation monitored until every region resolves correctly
- Domain expiry and DNS monitoring added so the next lapse is caught weeks early
- SSL and www redirects rechecked after the DNS change
- One page record of where the domain, DNS, hosting and email live, in your file
What it costs
Existing SpeedSolid clients: this is included in every plan. Open a ticket or call and site-down issues move to the front of the queue.
Not a client yet: most DNS fixes take under an hour. Domain recovery from redemption carries a registrar fee we pass through at cost. Work is billed at $150 per hour and we quote before we start. Move the site onto a Core plan from $99.99 per month and the monitoring that catches the next one is included.
On a SpeedSolid plan, DNS, domain expiry and email records are monitored, and the free migration includes copying every record before the switch.
How we compare
Why not a freelancer, the host’s support line or a guess?
DNS mistakes are cheap to make and expensive to live with. The fix is usually one record. Knowing which one is the job.
| What matters | SpeedSolid | A freelancer | Big-box host | Doing nothing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who answers when the site is down | One team that knows your site, phone and tickets 24/7/365, site-down handled first | Whoever built it, if they still reply | A chat queue that does not know your website | Nobody, until a customer tells you |
| Updates and security patches | Monthly updates, urgent fixes right away, malware monitoring and cleanup | When you remember to ask | Server only. Your WordPress, plugins and forms are on you | Never, until the site is hacked |
| Contact form delivery | Authenticated email, a test submission every day | Set up once, never checked again | Not their problem | Leads silently go to spam |
| Backups | Monthly full backup plus a copy before every update round, restore for $50 | Maybe | Often a paid add-on, restore on you | None |
| Accessibility and cookie tools | Included on Core Plus and Core Pro, with a statement page and consent banner | Extra project | Not offered | Exposed to demand letters |
| Price | From $99.99 a month, no contract | $75 to $150 an hour, unpredictable | $30 to $60 a month plus every fix at your cost | Free, until it is not |
Your first 30 days

Minute 1 to 30: trace
We check the registrar, nameservers and records from several locations and name the exact problem.
Hour 1: fix
The record is corrected, the domain renewed or recovered, email records restored, and we watch propagation.
Same day: document
Expiry and DNS monitoring added, ownership moved to your account, and a one page map of your domain, DNS, hosting and email saved in your file.
What your site runs on
Enterprise infrastructure, with a human team in front of it.
SpeedSolid runs on enterprise cloud infrastructure that is audited and monitored around the clock, and we pass those commitments down to your website. What that infrastructure does not include is someone who knows your site and answers the phone. That part is us.
Audited data centers
Independently audited for SOC 1, SOC 2 and SOC 3, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS Level 1, with HIPAA-eligible infrastructure available on Core Pro private servers.
Published uptime commitments
Core Pro private cloud and managed WordPress servers carry a 99.99% commitment, shared hosting 99.9%, with a 24/7/365 network operations center behind all three.
East and West Coast servers
Northern California, Los Angeles and Ashburn, Virginia, with an Amsterdam option for European traffic. Your site sits closest to your customers.
Uptime commitments and certifications apply to the underlying infrastructure. SpeedSolid plan commitments are listed on the pricing page.
FAQ
Questions we get asked
How long does DNS take to propagate?
Most changes resolve within an hour; some networks cache for up to 48 hours. We set low TTL values before planned changes so a move is nearly instant.
My domain expired. Can I get it back?
Usually, if it is within the registrar’s grace or redemption period, typically 30 to 75 days. Redemption carries a registrar fee. After that the domain can be released and bought by anyone, so speed matters.
We changed hosts and email stopped. Why?
The new host’s DNS replaced the old records and the MX, SPF and DKIM entries for your email were not copied over. We restore them from the mail provider’s settings and email returns within the hour.
Can you take over managing our DNS?
Yes. We can host DNS, keep the registrar in your name, and monitor expiry and records on every plan.
Do you work with sites outside California?
Yes. SpeedSolid is headquartered in California with teams and clients in Texas, New York, Florida and Hawaii. Servers sit in multiple US regions and support runs in US business hours, so a site anywhere in the country gets the same service.
My site is not on WordPress. Can you still help?
Usually yes. SSL, DNS and email problems are the same on every platform. For Wix, Squarespace and Shopify we can fix the DNS and email side and advise on the rest.
What does ongoing service cost?
Core is $99.99 per month, Core Plus is $149.99 per month and Core Pro starts at $299.99 per month, month to month. Pay annually and save 10 percent. Moving an existing site to SpeedSolid is free.
